Millard Foster

Millard Foster has been with the Edmonton Public School System since 1970 - spending 10 years in Music/ Drama at each of M.E. LaZerte and Ross Shepherd Composite High Schools

Previously, he was Supervisor of Music in Barrhead and a professional church music director in Toronto, Penticton, B.C., and Edmonton.

Mr Foster holds a B.Ed. (Music) U. of A., M.A. (educational Theatre) New York University, and is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto in Voice and Piano.

He has directed plays in New York, Toronto, Edmonton and B.C. and is in demand as a workshop clinic and festival adjudicator throughout Western Canada.


He has directed professional, high-calibre music theatre and drama productions for 20 years: The Sound of Music, Godspell, Romeo and Juliet, The Ecstasy of Rita Joe, to name a few.

In 1989 his students were chosen to make a readers' Theatre presentation to Lady Soames (Mary Churchill) when she was in Edmonton to unveil the statue of her father, Sir Winston Churchill.

In 2004 he was honoured by Ross Shepherd High School by having an award named after him, The Millard Foster Excellence in Drama Award (given annually to the top grade Xll student of drama)
